Yearly blossom of Spring-Snow-Flakes in the Swabian Alb / A wonder of nature
You can currently admire the blooming of the spring-snow-flake in the Swabian Alb. What a pleasure to see the forest floors covered with white dots of blossoms creating a fascinating contrast to the green mossy rocks and tunks. The semi-shade plant needs calcareous and humic soils. The canyon forests of the Alb are therefore an ideal habitat.
This photo was taken a few days ago near Blaustein. There are also thousands and thousands of spring flowers along the Forest & Water Trail near Bad Überkingen. In addition, you can learn there interesting facts about the path of water on the Alb, for example in the historic pumping station, which is now a museum (www.bad-ueberkingen.de).
These early bloomers are a protected species and must not be picked or dug up.
