We celebrate Geodiversity Day on 6th October / Campagin of GGN

With this picture, we want to tune in for Geodiversity Day. It shows the fascinating rock world at Raichberg. Gigantic fissures, cracks, and scarps in rock faces like the “Hangende Stein” can be observed along the hiking trail “Albtraufgänge” near Albstadt. The weathering and erosion of the Jurassic strata by the Neckar River and its tributaries transform the Albtrauf. We see live in a snapshot.

As a Geopark, Geodiversity Day is close to our hearts. It has only been celebrated worldwide since 2022. Geodiversity, together with biodiversity, forms the natural, beautiful diversity of our planet and is embedded in an eternal cycle of transformation.
