Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve

In 2009, the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve was awarded by UNESCO. It is located in the heart of the Geopark and is part of the "Man and the Biosphere" program of UNESCO established in 1970. The goal of biosphere reserves is to advance nature conservation with and through people. For this reason, the biosphere reserves are also divided into core, maintenance and development zones and, in addition to nature conservation, also deal with sustainable forms of economy, education and research.

Together with the office of the Swabian Alb biosphere reserve, the Geopark office develops excursions and exhibitions to show and make known the connection between geology, ecology and culture. The Biosphere
