Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The 2030 Agenda lists a total of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These cover various areas and are defined in more detail in a total of 169 targets.

SDG 1: No poverty
SDG 2: Zero hunger
SDG 3: Good health and well-being
SDG 4: Quality education
SDG 5: Gender equality
SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation
SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy
SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production
SDG 13: Climate action
SDG 14: Life below water
SDG 15: Life on land
SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions
SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

If you take a closer look at the individual goals, it quickly becomes clear that they are often closely interlinked. For example, climate protection measures contribute to the preservation of biodiversity, i.e. SDG 13 influences the successful implementation of SDG 14 and SDG 15.

Achieving SDG 2 is therefore not as easy as it seems. Nevertheless, it is a very important goal, because without hunger, people can better realise their potential. As humanity, we are therefore dependent on solving the problem of hunger. This requires international cooperation across professional boundaries. Local farmers are important partners here, as they are familiar with the local area around their farms and produce food for their respective regions and beyond. They are subject to market-based framework conditions and, just like everyone else, are faced with various challenges. Therefore, regionally and nationally adapted solutions must be found that contribute to achieving SDG 2 without jeopardising the achievement of other SDGs.
